It's Monday today~~
Having 'Monday Blues' early in the morning!!
But lucky today's lesson is still okay THANKS TO MY GROUP MATES~ Not having much problem just a little more heavier content than the previous lesson~~ Still 'doable'  =D Hmm, We learn about the Self-determination continuum, there are Extrinsic and Intrinsic motivation. Want to learn a bit about my lesson today?  =D

Firstly, we should know the pros and cons of exercise. As I learn that earlier in previous lessons, I now know why I should do some physical activity. It is such as:

·         increases muscle strength, improves joint mobility, heart and lungs function more efficiently, develops stamina, improves balance and coordination
·         help reduce anxiety, depression, stress, boost self-esteem
·         reduce the risk of chronic diseases

These can be said labeled as Identified Regulation. It involves personal, importance consciousness and valuing when perceived exercise. Ever heard of the above benefits you get when you exercise???

Exercising can be from walking more often than always taking the bus or MRT... It can also be of the common activities like cycling (which I love most!) swimming, badminton and etc. They are categorised under Intrinsic Regulation which consist of interest, whether we enjoy the activity, and satisfaction. Most of it, we exercise because we see the activity as fun and that we enjoyed it! =D These activities can be done with friends and family too! Otherwise, we can also make new friends while we exercise... >.^

Secondly, Introjected Regulation includes factor such as self-control, ego-involvement, internal rewards and punishment to regulate a person to be involved in exercise. Some examples are such as:

·         read success stories (Lance Armstrong) – despite suffering from cancer, he does exercising
·         sign up for exercise class
·         if exercise, self-esteem go up because when we exercise, we become fitter
·         feel confident to show up in upcoming reunion (look more slimmer & fitter)

External Regulation - compliance, external rewards and punishments. For example, you can take up exercise class that is worth the money. Thus, you exercise because of the reasonable fee. Also, it can be that the trainer treats you and the class food or other things after the exercise.

Lastly, the Integrated Regulation is when we are congruence, aware, synthesis with self, that regulates the motivation to exercise. Take for example, in 2 months time, there's a school marathon that you have signed up for. You want to win and at least get into the top 10 spot. Therefore, you exercise because you want to be in the top tenth spot! ^_^

Soooooooo, this is what I have studied in class earlier! Hope you get some information from here and find it useful!

Toddles~~
